2002 Z3 HomeComing
Welcome to the Fun!

Hard to believe it is the sixth year that this event has been held.

Let the Urban Legend get set straight about the first HomeComing.

  • HomeComing was conceived by the Z3 Register (Wayne and Amy Lester)
  • Given much life through the Z3 Message Board operated at the time by a gentlemen out of Canada. A small group of enthusiasts gathered to chat at this board on a daily basis and decided to show-up at the plant on Labor Day weekend 1997--whether the event occurred or not.
  • The event was Executed by Walt Benke, Director of Communications at the time for BMW Manufacturing plant 10 and all of the wonderful plant associates..

We have been here since the start and although our professional careers take up much of our time now, we have tried to stay involved with the club. We have traveled to Homecoming from as far away as 600 miles and as close as 6 miles. This years' HomeComing will be special for two reasons.

Reason #1

BMW is celebrating its 10th Anniversary in the Carolinas. The plant originally produced 318's while the Z3 started its life on a drawing board in Germany. The plant started producing the Z3 back in 1995.

Reason #2

This year will also be special because the Z3 has moved off the production floor and into the history book to take its place beside the Z1, M1 and the 2002. The last of the Z3 series has taken its place in the Zentrum and will be on display during HomeComing.
